Transcribed by Robert M. Fleming Jr.

Grandma Causey's letter on ancestors - relations.
Second letter --- not dates -- but follows a day or two first one.

this Sunday morning is writin time. & as I didnt get this off will write some more.as Ive read all I want in the paper. well about an hour ago Jake Ella Lottie & lester all came. Lottie brot a cake & some thing else. I didnt see what what Ella brot. a jar of something. just as I got this far Frank & Alice came. so we have a house full. last Sunday they didnt get here untill so late they went down to a resturant. Cora & Lottie is helping get dinner. Cora washes all the dishes. last night I took a piece of flannel & soaked it in coal oil & lard. & put it on my back. & it is a lot better. I didnt have it on very long & blistered it. and hadnt had it on for some time. but now I will try it again. Cora cant go untill Howard sends money. I told her he might not send it. she said if he didnt she would go to Port & get a job. I think it will be pretty hard for him to raise that much right now. when it is time for taxes & lots of things in the Spring. it costs $9. from Klamath Falls to Lakeview just for one. so that is $18. then from her to K F it is between $7 & 8.for one. so you see what its going to take. I hope he wont send it. for I dont want her to go. I know how she had to do before. this is 5/oc & they are all gone. you ought to have seen us eat dinner. their table only seats 10. there was just room for all of us grown ups and alb. & Alice & Jack eat on the parlor table. & the 3 Br ate on their little table. so we all ate at the same time. their children have the chicken pox. but not a bit sick. Junie didnt come. her people all live there when I was in Calif. your Uncle Orvis daughter Grace asked me all about her fathers people. I could have told you a lot about [rest of bottom line mostly illegible, not enough of the letters visible, only the tops] ever cared to hear anything about their ancestors. they didnt seem to care if they had had a grandmother or not. well I have told you who your great grandfather Jennings married Sara McMurtry. they always called her Sally. and his name was James Samuel Bonifiel Jennings. they called him Sammy. & his mother was Sara Bonifiel. so that both of Jas grandmothers were named Sara. they were my great grandmothers. & your great great grandmothers. the Jennings were English. & I think Sara Bonifiel was too. but Im not sure. I dont know who Sara McMurtry was before she married my great grandfather. I have heard but have forgotten. the McMurtrys was Scotch Irish. the same as McCormicks. they were scotch Irish. lots of them had red hair. my grandmother Jennings had brown eyes & auburn hair. like mrs McCormick. I dont know a thing about the Causeys.

any farther back than your grandpa. his name was Joseph. & grandma was Eliza Adams McCormick. I think that History will tell you more than than I can. if you will read that Nance H it will tell you every thing about us.Mrs Moore told me she was so glad to get History of her Family. as the Moores had always looked down on her she said. Mrs Frizhin said why Annie I didnt know you were so highly related.she said the Moores didnt have any coat of arms. & she could boast of a governor & senator on hers. & they couldnt. the Senator was my brothers son. & we were there & visited in Quincy Ill. Ma & I & Tela & Titia. I was 18. when we went out to dinner he took ma by the arm & led her out like she was a queen. his name was James Harvey Richardson. we always called him cousin Jim Harve. his picture is in that H. & so is the governor. Nance Im not going to write all about the Nances as you have a H. and can read it. they have the same coat of arms that Queen Elizabeth had.

I dont feel like I ever would be able to go down there. this is Tues afternoon. & is still raining. & C hasnt heard from Howard. I divided up my things and gave them all away. except these little thin cups & saucers. Mrs Prince gave me & a few more things.Frank took 2 boxes full Sunday. ' Jas picture. & I sent some things to Wanda & Cal. not very much. I gave Guys nearly all because I knew she would say something about me not giving them to them. I sent a few to V. I have a set of tea spoons& a berryspoon. will send one to Sewall & the other to Rich. when I get his invitation card. & know he is going to marry. mayby he will make it this time as it is the third time. well I got a letter from a real estate co. of Butte. they want me to let them know if that 5 acres over there is for sale. & of course I will say yes. but I will wait untill Frank comes before letting them know because he might know them. and will know if they are reliable. he dont work Sat afternoons. & will have Sun & Mon. said he would be here one day. the main reason I havent sold that co that cemetary lot was I hated to have them sell it out to single graves. & have just any body buried there. I wouldnt mind it if it was to some nice family. they would be apt to get more for it. & if Frank can sell his timber he will buy it. & keep it in the family. I would sooner it was like it is now. than to have any Tom Dick or harry buried there. when we start down there we will leave here in the morning. on the train & go to K F & stay there all night. then go on next day on the stage 110 miles. its going to be a hard ride. -- that is all of letter. (Note; my later information is that Uncle Frank either bought the cemetary lot or it was willed to him by Grandma. For in these later years it was in his name in the cemetary office. but it is also on record that Iva Florence Causey Fleming,Mother, paid $100. to have the concrete curbs around the burial lot of about 12 or so grave sites renewed by the cemetary. Over the years they had broken down in many places.)( in 1953 when Dick and I looke it over it was in good condition.)
